  1. 1. Drain any liquid from the cherries. Slowly melt the butter and then let it cool. Gradually stir in the sugar and then the eggs. Mix the salt, flour, and baking powder — add this to the vanilla extract and the butter, sugar, and egg mixture. Finally, add enough milk to turn the mixture creamy. Don't let it get too liquid.
  2. 2. Preheat the oven to 350 °F (175 °C). Grease the pie pan with butter, add the dough, and spread it out smoothly across the pie pan.
  3. Evenly distribute the cherries on top, pressing them lightly into the dough. Bake the pie for about 30-35 minutes.
